Making Those Hard Days in Life Easy

Advertisements

This past weekend, a friend of mine in Knoxville, TN, wrote this post on his Facebook wall, and it seemed so encouraging that I thought I’d share it!  Thanks, John Latham, for giving me permission to share your words!

#SundayRunningReflections  Today called for an “Easy 6” ….  As I ran, I began reflecting that the “easy” pace I was running today sure didn’t feel easy six months ago. Six months ago, the exact same pace was “hard!”  “Easy” and “hard” are relative terms. The reason I was enjoying the easy pace of today was because of the “hardening” effect of the hard days from the past.

One of my favorite passages in the Bible is 2 Corinthians 4:16-18. The New Living Translation reads, “That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever!”

The hope that comes from this passage helps make my “hard” days in life “easy” or at least easier. It reminds me that my trials are really small compared to what the man who wrote that passage endured and what many around me are experiencing. It underscores that my trials are temporary. It encourages me to endure the hardships of life with joy knowing that one day all of this will pass away and I will enjoy the presence of Christ, forever.

By the way, I’d love to hear your comments!  Let me hear your feedback!
