4 Reasons God Is Not Stressed Out Over the Election Results

Most of us were up late last night watching the results for the elections pour in from around the country.  Roughly half of the nation was exuberant.  Half were distressed. I’d like to give a few encouraging words to those who may feel a bit disheartened today.

In this midst of such a time, I believe it is good for us to step back and realize that God is not stressed out about the results of this election.  Here are some reasons why He is at ease today:

1. He is still in control.

Daniel lived in an era of supreme wickedness, and yet he had a refreshing perspective:

Daniel answered and said: “Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, For wisdom and might are His. And He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding.”

Daniel 2:20-21

It is reassuring to know that no person, political party, or nation can grab the steering wheel away from the King of the universe. I will sleep better at night with that in mind.

2. God’s plans are not thwarted by politics.

Daniel goes on to describe how God’s plans are unstoppable:

And I blessed the Most High and praised and honored Him who lives forever: for His dominion is an everlasting dominion, and His kingdom is from generation to generation.  All the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing; He does according to His will in the army of heaven and among the inhabitants of the earth. No one can restrain His hand or say to Him, “What have You done?”

Daniel 4 :34-35

Most of us have grown sickened by the disgusting maneuvers we’ve witnessed in politics.  But no political scheme can interfere with God’s plan.

3. Justice will prevail.

One of the great themes of the Bible is that God’s justice will ultimately prevail in the end.  For example, you can take a stroll through Isaiah 42 to see that justice is a major part of God’s plan.

It is also good for us to remember that nothing escapes the sight of God.

For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf ofthose whose heart is loyal to Him.

2 Chronicles 16:9 (NKJV)

The eyes of the Lord are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good.

Proverbs 15:3

It is certainly encouraging to know that God will handle all of the injustices we see on this planet, and it is good for us to live our lives in light of that realization as well.

4. The last chapter of history has already been written.

We must always remember that the last chapter of history has already been written.  For those of us who know Christ, it ends well.  For those who do not know Him, well, not so much.

So, let’s be about the work rescuing souls today!
